Departments

Departments are used to group locations (tablets) into production lines to allow you to define groups of workers. Departments can be used as filters in reports and real-time screens. Also used to report time and SAMs earned.

Functionality

Manage > Locations > Departments

Departments may have milestones to inform stages during the process, meaning Shopfloor can be configured to create a milestone file which can be used, when configured for your system, to update an ERP system as to the status of production. They may also have a specific feature used for the planning module (see planning module section for more information)

It's possible to associate the following information about a department.

Id - Department ID reference
Name - Department Name
Milestone - Milestone associated to department, used for milestone tracking and Planning platform
Department Traits - Traits are used only for the planning platform
Daily Goal - an option to set daily unit goals to be used by the daily target screen
Takt Time - Setup the pace of the day calculated by the demand. Used to define production demand of a department, necessary for line balancing
Color - Only used in the planning platform
Hide in Plan - Only used in the planning platform
Edit & Delete - Used to unlock a department for edits and to delete a department

It is possible to create hierarchies of departments up to 4 departments deep by dragging a department over another

This will place the moved department as a sub department under the desired department.
